God gave us children to bring us back to earth...

So I got a package today from Angry Robot. Inside was a card that read:
First one hot off the presses? Whatever could he mean? Oh yeah ...

So yes, there was much happy dancing in the Broaddus household. But before my ego could swell to unbelievable, "I am Author" proportions, my boys came in to find out what the ruckus was about.

Reese: "What's that?"
Me: "It's my book."
Malcolm: "You wrote that?"
Me: "Yep. Here's my name and everything."
Malcolm: "You wrote that? But ... that's a real book."

And with that, my feet remain firmly on the ground. But I'm happy inside.

Huge congrats! Since getting review copies is better than any christmas morning ever I can only imagine what getting the book you wrote feels like. Enjoy. :)

Congratulations!

I usually find the bubble bursts right around the time I receive an email from an editor reminding me of the next deadline... Then it's time to slouch back to the keyboard and start work again.

Congratulations!

I get a lot of books in the mail; but, not any that I have written. In fact, I am sure that the mailman hates me. At any rate, congratulations ....

Your kids also know who to root for in Scrabble--the guy who helps make sure you keep getting "real books". Congratulations, and I'm looking forward to seeing many more such "hot off the presses" pictures. So, seat of pants back to seat of chair.
